Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions—and that’s completely normal. At Forward Journey Therapy, we want you to feel informed, supported, and confident in every step of your journey. Below, you’ll find answers to the most common questions about our services, what to expect, payment options, and how to get started.
If you don’t see your question here, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help.
Everyone experiences stress, sadness, or overwhelm at times—but when those feelings start affecting your daily life, relationships, or sense of self, therapy can help.
You might benefit from therapy if you’re:
• Feeling anxious, depressed, or emotionally stuck
• Struggling with relationships or major life transitions
• Coping with trauma, grief, or identity-related challenges
• Wanting to build healthier coping tools or emotional awareness
Therapy isn’t just for crisis—it’s for anyone who wants to feel more in control, supported, and connected to themselves and others.
Yes. Your privacy is protected by HIPAA and professional ethics. Everything shared in therapy stays between you and your therapist—except in rare cases where safety is a concern (e.g., harm to self or others).
Your first session is a chance to get to know your therapist and talk about what brought you in. We’ll explore your goals, your history, and what you’d like to get out of therapy—all in a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space. There’s no pressure to share everything at once—this is your journey, at your pace.
Our session fees vary by service and provider. We accept many insurance plans and also offer sliding scale rates based on income to make therapy more accessible. If cost is a concern, we’re happy to discuss flexible payment options.
Most sessions are 50–55 minutes long. Frequency depends on your needs—many clients start with weekly or biweekly sessions. We’ll work together to create a schedule that supports your goals and fits your lifestyle.
We use evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR, mindfulness techniques, play therapy, and culturally responsive practices. Your treatment plan will be tailored to your unique goals, background, and preferences.
We understand that life happens. We just ask that you give at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or reschedules to avoid a late cancellation fee. Our team will work with you to find a new time that works, and we offer virtual options if needed.
We take time to understand your story, cultural background, goals, and communication style. From there, we create a therapy plan using evidence-based techniques that align with your values. No two journeys are the same—our care is always tailored to fit you, not the other way around.
We accept a variety of payment methods, including debit/credit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and some insurance plans. We also offer sliding scale rates based on financial need to help make therapy more affordable for everyone.
Yes—therapy can be a powerful tool for healing, growth, and clarity. Whether you’re facing anxiety, relationship challenges, past trauma, or simply want to better understand yourself, therapy offers a safe space to explore your thoughts, build coping strategies, and feel more empowered in your life. You don’t need to “have it all figured out” to begin—just a willingness to take the first step.
